Configure Router for Cisco dCloud

Configure Router

There are three recommended methods to configure your router using the auto-generated router configuration file: Internet, TFTP, and Console.

Internet

If your router has Internet access you can copy the configs directly to your router:

  1. From router exec mode run the command – copy http://dcloud.cisco.com/dCloud/config/xx/router startup-config
  2. From AP exec mode run the command     – copy http://dcloud.cisco.com/dCloud/config/xx/ap startup-config
  3. Reboot the router as well as the AP.

TFTP

  1. Use TFTP to copy the file to the router. Console or Telnet required.
  2. Download the auto-generated configuration file and place it on a TFTP server.
  3. From router exec mode run the command  – copy tftp://<tftp-ip-address> startup:
  4. From AP exec mode run the same command – copy tftp://<tftp-ip-address> startup:
  5. Reboot the router as well as the AP.

To connect to the Wireless AP console:
router#service-module wlan-ap 0 session
enable
password:Cisco
ap#

Use Ctrl-^ followed by x, to exit back to router console.

Console

You can copy and paste the configurations to the router console. Console cable required.

  1. Download the auto-generated configuration file.
  2. Use Console cable to connect to the router console.
  3. If the device has been previously configured, erase the startup config and reboot the router.
  4. After the router comes back up, copy paste <25 lines at a time, to the router console.
  5. Copy running-config to startup-config.
  6. You will have to do the same for the ap config as well.

To erase the existing wireless AP config:

router#service-module wlan-ap 0 reset default-config

To connect to the Wireless AP console:

router#service-module wlan-ap 0 session
enable
password:Cisco
ap#

Ctrl-^ followed by x, to exit back to router console.

VPN Tunnel

You do not need to perform any additional actions to start the VPN tunnel. The IPSec VPN connection is automatically initiated when you do either of the following:

  • Connect a Cisco IP Phone or other device to the routers switch ports
  • Connect your laptop to the router, using a wired or wireless connection, and initiate traffic to the demonstration virtual machines

Refer to the the supported routers page for information on which ports to use for your specific router.
