The steps below detail how to demonstrate the advanced features of the Cisco Collaboration 10.5 v1 demonstration.
Cisco 2911 Integrated Service Router
The advanced features require a Cisco 2911 ISR configured with the latest dCloud configuration. To ensure that your 2911 has been configured with the correct settings for this demo, download and install the configuration. [Show Me How]
Video Conferencing Services
The Cisco 2911 ISR G2 router provides video conferencing services and rich media applications natively through Cisco IOS software and DSP modules. The Cisco 2911 ISR G2 acts as a multipoint video control bridge for ad-hoc video conferences with Cisco Unified Communications Manager. Both homogenous and heterogeneous video conferences are supported.
The video conferencing services of the Cisco 2911 ISR G2 lower total cost of ownership for customers while minimizing operational costs and deployment complexity. Customers who already have ISR G2 routers and PVDM3 modules can enable the feature with an upgraded Cisco IOS Software and feature license.
- Generate an ad hoc multi party video call between Anita’s 9951, Adam’s 9971 (or DX650) and Charles’ iPad.
- Note the HD video quality of the call.
- Confirm that the router has created the video bridge.

The V_conferencing Oper State in the output of this command must show ACTIVE and Cause Code: NONE.
- You can also confirm that the router has created the video bridge correctly in Cisco Unified Communications Manager.
- From Workstation 1, open Internet Explorer and from the dCloud homepage click Collaboration Admin Links > Cisco Unified Communications Manager.
- Login as administrator, password C1sco12345.
- Click the Media Resources drop down and choose Conference Bridges.
- Look for Conference Bridge named dCloud-remvid. It should show as registered.
- If the dCloud-remvid conference bridge is not registered check the box next to the bridge name and click Reset Selected.
- Next, go to the router CLI and execute the following commands:

no sccp
sccp
exit
show sccp connections - Return to Communications Manager and Click the Media Resources drop down and choose Conference Bridges.
- Check the dCloud-remvid Conference Bridge, the status should now show as registered.
- You have three options for Conference Bridges, listed here in priority order. If you have the available hardware it is recommended to choose the highest option.
- Cisco MCU 5310.
- Ad-hoc conferencing, available on the Cisco TelePresence devices
- Cisco 2911 ISR
Cisco Unified Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST)
Cisco Unified SRST provides telephony backup services to ensure that the remote location has telephony service in the event of a WAN failure. SRST functions in the remote-location router to detect a failure in the network and initiate a process to provide call-processing backup for the IP phones in that location. Upon restoration of WAN connectivity, the system automatically shifts call processing back to the primary Cisco Unified Communications Manager.
To demonstrate this feature in the demonstration environment, you must first configure your router for SRST.
You must have an SRST license activated on the router. See Software Activation on Cisco Integrated Services Routers for more information.
- Start a terminal session to the router console.
- From the privileged EXEC prompt enter the command:
show ip interface brief | begin BVI

- Record the IP addresses for interfaces BVI10 and BVI100.
- Within the router CLI, configure the Call Manager Fallback address. Replace BVI10_address with the actual address of your BVI10 interface.

- From Workstation 1, launch Internet Explorer.
- From the Home page, click Collaboration Admin Links > Cisco Unified Communications Manager and login.
- Username: administrator
- Password: C1sco12345.
- From the menu, click System > SRST.
- Click Find.
- Click the dCloud SRST gateway link.
- Configure the SRST Reference Information with the IP addresses you noted earlier.
- IP Address – IP address of BVI10
- SIP Network/IP Address – IP address of BVI100
- Click Save and then Apply Config.

- Confirm that the phones are not currently registered to the router.

- Simulate a WAN failure by disconnecting the G0/0 interface on the router.
Alternately, you can shut down the G0/0 interface via the router CLI.
- Confirm that the SCCP and SIP phones are registered to the router.

- Make calls between the phones to confirm voice connectivity.
Only calls between physical phones will connect.
Cisco Media Sense CUBE recording
Cisco Media Sense server can record voice and video calls placed within the UC environment. This section of the document shows how to configure the Cisco 2911 Integrated Services Router to send these data streams to the Media Sense server for archiving.
For the best results, you should use a physical Cisco IP phone such as the 99XX, DX, or EX series devices. Do not attempt to play back the recorded call until the call has actually ended. You may need a voice license or Cisco Unified Communications license for your 2911 ISR for this MS CUBE functionality to work. Depending on bandwidth limitations, you may sometimes only see video recorded from one phone instead of both directions.
- Note the IP address of the BVI 100 interface on the Cisco 2911 ISR. See Steps 1 – 4 in the previous section.
- From Workstation 1, open Internet Explorer and from the dCloud homepage click Collaboration Admin Links > Cisco Unified Communications Manager.
- Login as administrator, password C1sco12345.
- Click Device > Trunk and click Find.
- Click the trunk named MS-CUBE-Video-Recording.
- Scroll down to the SIP Information section and enter the IP address for the BVI 100 interface in the Destination field. Click Save.
- Click Reset to reinitialize the trunk.
- Once the trunk restarts, look to see that it shows a status of Full Service.
- Test the MS CUBE recording capabilities
- Dial the phone number of the user you want to call, prefixing the number with 89. For example, if you are calling 6016, dial 896016.
- Answer the call and let the video call run for few minutes.
- Login to Workstation 3 as username: mecheng, password: dCloud12345!
- Open the Firefox browser and from the homepage click Collaboration Admin Links > Cisco Media Sense.
- Click Cisco MeidaSense Search and Play.
- Login as username: mediasense, password: C1sco12345.
- If the call is still running, you should see it under the Active Calls section. If the call has ended then it will be in the Recent Calls section.
- There is an arrow next to the phone extensions. Click the arrow and verify that the Media Sense server has recorded both video and audio.

- Click the Play button to view the video call recording. Accept any pop up or warning messages. It will take 1 – 2 minutes to load the recording before you can view it. Please be patient. You will need to have Java installed if you are using a local workstation. See the possible messages below.

- If you would like to download the recorded file to play locally you will need to click the download button and choose the mp4 format. This file can be downloaded to one of the demonstration workstations or your local laptop connected to the demonstration using Cisco AnyConnect.
- Once the file is downloaded, play the recording using VLC player.
